In
addition to diving, you can see the Blue Hole from another perspective; It is a
unique experience that will leave you speechless. If you've never been on a
helicopter, Belize is the perfect country to do it.
Flying
over the Blue Hole can be expensive but seeing the perfect indigo-colored
circle surrounded by coral reefs is terrific. From the helicopter, you will
have thousands of fantastic photo opportunities. Tours offered across the
length and breadth of the country. And lead visitors to view the city from
above. Besides, the pilots will take you through thousands of different
islands.
I recommend that you be alert to dolphins;
they almost always roam the area! Whether you explore Belize by air or
underwater, you will have a unique experience.
·
Visit the ruins of Lamanai
It
is one of the most astounding Mayan excavation sites in Belize. The ruins stand
out for their magnificent architecture and impressive landscapes. They are full
of the rain forest with views of the Río Nuevo lagoon, and most choose to
access it by boat.
Visitors
enjoy exploring the lush jungle, wildlife, and local archeology as they make
their way to the ruins. Many of them are open to the public and can be scaled
to take amazing pictures of the surrounding landscape.
Picturesque
trails will take you from one ruin to another as spiders, monkeys and howler
monkeys accompany you on the journey. If you are interested in learning more
about the history of the Mayan civilization, you cannot miss Lamanai.
·
Relax on the beach
The
country itself has more than 380 km of coastline and hundreds of islands, so
the possibilities for walking on the beach abound. The Placencia peninsula is a
stretch of land surrounded by water "perfect for walking barefoot."
It stretches across three villages, offers thousands of restaurants and vibrant
nightlife, and all beaches are open to the public.
If you're looking for a quieter destination,
head to Half Moon Cay, a crescent moon-shaped land surface washed by the waters
of the Caribbean Sea. One part of the Cayo is a preservation area for sea
turtles, while the rest of the land is a coastal forest with a sanctuary for
the Robin booby.
There are thousands of spas in this country,
and it doesn't matter if you choose to explore by boat, helicopter or on foot.
·
Dive in the Blue Hole
The
Blue Hole is around 120 meters deep, and only experienced divers will be able
to live this unique adventure. You will be ready to dive into the surrounding
coral reefs, but only the most skilled will be able to swim in deep water. It
is where the limestone formations and stalactites found. Don't expect to see
colorful fish or coral in the deepest part; there is only the occasional
hammerhead shark circling. On some occasions, you may come across barracudas,
rays, and reef sharks
·
Practice tubing inside the caves
There
is nothing more exciting than floating 11 kilometers down the underground
rivers with just a flashlight guiding you.
The adventure begins with a 20-30-minute
walk through the jungle in the company of a guide, which must hire in advance.
The guide will provide you with all kinds of curious facts about flora and
fauna of the place as you head towards the river. Once there, you will climb
into an inner tube and immediately begin your adventure.
The
caves are unique natural structures and waterfalls, rock formations and
crystals await inside them. The tour of the caves lasts around 30 minutes and
ends with a walk along the river, where you will have the possibility of
encountering toucans and howler monkeys.
Do not worry about the equipment; the guides
will be in charge of providing you with the air chambers,

Stay in the jungle
Belize
is the perfect destination to stay in the heart of the forest. This country
offers thousands of eco-friendly hostels, providing the ideal setting for a
romantic getaway, a family vacation, or something more luxurious.
When I speak of the ecological hostels in this
country, I am referring to exclusive spas, with huge pools surrounded by trees,
first-class cabins, exotic birds everywhere, and exquisite gastronomy. Depending
on your budget, you can spend the night by the river, where zip lines and canoe
adventures await you, and you can also access your room in the middle of the
jungle by helicopter.
Spend
the night in one of these hostels and say goodbye to all your worries.
·
Visit the zoo
This
zoo hides an exciting story. The project emerged in the 1980s. After a
documentary about Belizean animals and their impossibility to be reintroduced
into their natural fauna because they were domesticated filmed.
Sharon
Matola, who was in charge of these creatures, decided to create the zoo and
turn it into a rescue center. The Belize Zoo is notable for bringing together
endemic species from the region and for harboring orphaned, wounded, or
captive-bred young.
As
many of the animals are nocturnal, the best time to visit the establishment is
at night. The most beautiful thing about this site is that it allows the
interaction between domestic animals and wild animals of the surrounding
jungle. Don't be surprised if you come across snakes,
·
Escape to the island
.
Visitors will be able to choose from hundreds of islands, some 450 to be exact,
and should keep in mind that some are more accessible than others. The Caulker
Cay is a favorite for backpackers and those looking to let go of luxuries.
Vehicles
are not allowed here, so people must travel on foot or in golf carts. If you
prefer more amenities, in Ambergris Caye, you will find hotels, water sports,
restaurants, and bars.
For those who want to get away from reality
for a while and relax in the sun, Cayo Tabaco allows you to fully immerse
yourself in the local culture, as many islanders will invite you to stay at
·
Scale Ca'ana
Caracol
is one of the most visited Mayan sites in Belize, and here, visitors will find
the enormous Ca'ana pyramid. Some 35,000 buildings and other unexcavated areas
await it for exploration. Ca'ana is the most imposing structure of all, and the
ascent is genuinely incredible.
The most beautiful thing of all is the views
from the top. The pyramid is 44 meters tall and is the tallest human-made
structure in the country. The stairs to the highest point are gigantic and
challenging.
Once up, you will have the possibility to see
the jungle and the lush vegetation that surrounds it; stay alert as you may come
across jaguars, monkeys, toucans, tapirs, and macaw macaws.
·
Snorkel in the Hol Chan Marine Reserve
Belize's
oldest marine reserve provides diving and snorkeling opportunities without
affecting the marine fauna of the northern region of the Belize Barrier Reef.
It
is necessary to rent a boat to visit the place and accompanied by a guide, the
crossings can be done twice a day, in the morning, and the afternoon. The
reserve divided into four zones, and the most important is Hol Cut Chan.
Here
fans of diving and snorkeling will discover a great diversity of colorful and
friendly fish. Rays, lobsters, and eels are also part of this underwater scene.
The second and third zones are home to beds of algae and mangroves. Shark Ray
Alley is the fourth zone, where divers will get a close
look at nurse sharks prowling the waters
